A consortium of Outdoor Arts organisations – Emergency Exit Arts, OutdoorArtsUK, Walk The Plank and Without Walls – is interested in broadening the production side of the sector to include more disabled people, women and people from Global Majority – currently under-represented in the production areas of Outdoor Arts.

‘Outdoor Arts’ is generally defined as any performance work taking place in all sorts of open-air venues, and includes carnival parades, city and town festivals, melas and Diwali events, site-specific productions, greenfield festivals and community programmes. Production areas might include Production Managers, Stage Managers, light and sound technicians, prop and costume makers, health & safety managers, drivers, crew and riggers.

In an attempt to begin to address this, if you work in any aspect of production and would like to be more connected to the Outdoor Arts network, we are offering you one year’s fully subsidised membership of OutdoorArtsUK.

The consortium will also offer you an hour of individual advice on how the sector is connected, where to focus your work and who to connect with.

With a directory listing on the OAUK website and the chance to discuss your work, we can then help to make you more visible to the sector and hopefully expand your working opportunities and professional connections.

OutdoorArtsUK is a UK-wide network for anyone working in Outdoor Arts; membership means you can link up with artists, companies, festivals and producers who may be useful in finding employment and developing connections. Using your membership can help get you more outdoor work and for the sector to connect with you on a freelance basis.
