Hello, I’m Nickie Miles-Wildin and I am the new Access Consultant for Without Walls.
I am also a theatre and radio director. Some of my work has been performed outdoor arts festivals as my alter ego is Beryl from Bingo Lingo and Buck A Brenda. I love telling stories that are full of hope, connection and community, and which challenge the structures of ordinary storytelling. I am passionate about reaching audiences that are often excluded from theatre spaces.
My work challenges preconceptions around disability and I aim to put alternative narratives on the centre stage. I integrate access in my creative practise and have mentored many artists in this field.
I have lived experience as a disabled person and I’ll bring this knowledge to the role of Access Consultant for Without Walls. I have facilitated workshops both nationally and internationally exploring all aspects access in the arts. I am constantly learning myself and believe access is a process for us all.
I’ll be working with Without Walls artists to support them with access riders and how they can best embed access into their shows. I also work with them to see how they can develop their disabled, Deaf, neurodivergent and learning disabled audiences.
