Phone Box is an energetic and vibrant outdoor solo production by Corey Baker Dance (CBD), featuring an iconic vintage red telephone box, an athletic performer and an exhibition of high octane manoeuvres.
True to signature CBD style, Phone Box encapsulates the audience using a once ordinary object and combining it with impressive physical movement, allowing the audience to see the every day differently as they experience this brand new high-quality production. The phone box has been specially designed to feature in the show, enabling carefully crafted yet thrilling dance and acrobatics by the performer, complimented by an exciting digital sound-score.

The show plays with the idea of an interactive installation to engage the curiosity of the public/audience prior to and following each performance.

Phone Box is an exciting and entertaining show for all to enjoy, drawing the attention of bystanders and introducing a new interest in performance to many.

Corey Baker Dance, established in 2008, is a fresh, dynamic and vibrant dance company that creates cutting edge and exciting performance. With the ethos that ‘dance is for everyone’, Corey Baker takes dance to communities with a focus on engaging outdoor work. CBD commissions include work for Prix de Lausanne, Leipzig Festival, Sydney Youth Ballet Company, Notting Hill Festival, Rambert Youth Dance Company; elevate Dance Company, Kneehigh Theatre Company, International Dance Festival Birmingham (IDFB) and Cultural Olympiad. New Zealand-born Corey Baker was International Resident Choreographer for IDFB 2014, and Associate Creative Director of Birmingham Weekender 2015. Throughout 2015, CBD successfully produced and toured their interactive and pop-up outdoor productions, solo performance Headphones (reaching 5000+ people), and Maori inspired Haka Day Out (reaching 30,000+) across a large variety of outdoor spaces throughout the UK. CBD is currently delivering a UK theatre tour of a new work, Kapa Haka Tale. Corey Baker is Associate Artist of DanceXchange.
