Louder Than Words

by Cathy Waller Company

Dance, Music/Sound

An image of two dancers kicking their legs in the air with their back to the camera. There is a man to the right of them playing the drums and a crowd in the background.

An explosive and dynamic dance work all set to the sound and rhythm of a live musician on stage.

Two dancers compete, test and outdo each other whilst being challenged by the multiple instruments and percussion played live in between them. As the powerful and beat-heavy sound intensifies, the dancers are forced together performing spectacular lifts, turns and falls, matching the musician’s authority. As the competition begins to shift towards the music, watch how the dancers weave and glide around the musician, all trying to outshine each other in this vigorous and vibrant display of dance and music.

About Cathy Waller Company

London Dance Award Winner Cathy Waller set up Cathy Waller Company in 2012, after receiving the Blueprint Bursary from East London Dance and Sadler’s Wells. After an initial 4 date tour, the Company’s first work Tempo went on to perform in another 17 venues including Sadler’s Wells Sampled and West End Live. The company’s unique style of contemporary dance, in collaboration with original live music, created their first outdoor work Two Plus One as part of Gi20, which performed at Stockton International Festival and National Theatre in 2012. Cathy Waller Company is supported by Greenwich Dance and East London Dance.
