Of Man and Beast

by Company Chameleon

Dance, Theatre

An image of five male performers in various stances, with one jumping in the air and the other striking various poses in front of a brick wall.

Of Man and Beast is a dynamic outdoor work, choreographed by Co-Artistic Director Anthony Missen for Company Chameleon.

A powerful, sensitive and revealing look at male group dynamics, Of Man and Beast uncovers the many faces of man – strength, camaraderie, vulnerability and hostility. 5 exceptional male performers showcase the company’s inventive and unique physical style.

About Company Chameleon

Company Chameleon is a Manchester dance success story, which started when Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner met at Trafford Youth Dance Theatre in the mid-1990s.

Two ordinary lads from Manchester, they shared an ambition to dance professionally for a living. After developing their talent at Trafford, they went on to train at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, and after graduating, travelled extensively to work with some of the most innovative dance companies and choreographers in the world. They returned home to Manchester in 2007, to achieve their goal of setting up their own dance company, and Company Chameleon was born.

Five performers outdoors pose with their arms outstretched while they lean backwards. They all have their faces upwards with their tongues out, curled down their chins.
On the street at night time surrounded by a crowded audience, one performer is carrying another performer holding onto their hips on their left shoulder.
