Quingo
by Emergency Exit Arts
Puppetry

Quingo (They/Them) is a 5 metre tall mechanical puppet, co-designed with learning disabled (LD) adults and children.
An awe-inspiring, 5 metre tall, motorised giant, vibrating with a built-in sound system and dancing to the beat of their own drum – which hosts a DJ(s). They have 4 interactive faces, 1 of which is interchangeable and responds to the people and places they visit.
Quingo embodies diversity, inclusion, and above all, fun. They also bring identity, visibility and, crucially, sociability out into the open for learning disabled people. Quingo is on a mission, bringing the Party out into diverse, accessible, inclusive spaces and positioning learning disabled people as social instigators, leading the way in creating inclusive, dynamic, celebratory Parties for everyone to enjoy.
Quingo was co-created with learning disabled Creative Producers from Heart n Soul.

About Emergency Exit Arts
Founded 1980, Emergency Exit Arts (EEA) began as an artists’ collective born out of a desire to radically transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. At a time of social and political change we aspired to make a positive difference to people’s lives, particularly those who have been discriminated against and those living in economically excluded communities across London and the UK. Now a registered charity and one of the Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations, EEA has evolved into the reputable outdoor arts company it is today, still pioneering and still inspiring change through creativity.
