The Journey
Perhaps Contraption
Music/Sound
Let’s weave and howl. Let’s flood the fields with colourful harmonies and chattering gestures. Let each movement tell a story. Let’s come together and celebrate the power of community, of daring to build extraordinary things… Prepare to embark on a journey.
Award-winning experimental brass band Perhaps Contraption and Deaf BSL poet Zoë McWhinney will lead the way.
Expect a curious, jubilant parade, replete with intricate rhythms, expressive bustle and a healthy dose of hope. You will travel in procession, exploring some of the jewels of the city on the way. Under the big sky, marvelling in the moment, hearts open.
“Completely extraordinary”
BBC 6 Music
“A beguiling, euphoric blast of energy.”
The Scotsman
“Perhaps Contraption have the rare joy of being unbelievably talented, but also collaboratively telepathic.
You feel at once as though you’re watching something meticulously crafted and beautifully chaotic”

About Perhaps Contraption
Perhaps Contraption is a multi-award winning, progressive brass band from London. Part choir, part chamber orchestra, part avant rock band, they create a truly unique musical experience; melding elements of jazz, art pop and post-minimalism.
Their sound can feel like staggering through a twisted fairground – beautiful and astonishing, replete with irregular but irresistible rhythms, triumphant horns and enormous choral harmonies.
