Without Walls Annual Accounts 22-23

We are delighted to present our annual accounts for the year ending on 31 March.

Transparency has always been a core value for Without Walls and that extends to our financial performance. This is our fifth year as a NPO and the fourth year we have published our full annual accounts for you to see. Last year it was decided to extend this principle and engage in a voluntary audit each financial year.

The 2022/2023 year was a busy one and looking at this report clearly shows the growth of Without Walls’ work to bring outdoor art to the public. Some highlights from the report include:

The 11 partners in our Artistic Director supported 17 new shows in the Without Walls artistic programme.
Without Walls’ Touring Network Partnership of 17 organisations helped extend the life of 33 previous works supported by the Artistic Directorate at their festivals and events.
The Creative Development Network mentoring system helping bring arts to places with previously limited access supported 5 organisations in 2022 and 9 in 2023.
The Blueprint research and development programme allowed 6 companies to kick off and explore new ambitious ideas for work.
Without Walls shows held 293 audience development sessions nationwide.
Our Discover Programme supported 31 global majority, Deaf and disabled artists, directors and producers, 12 of which received access bursaries.

In the last financial year, Without Walls invested nearly £200k more in its programmes and projects than the year before. It’s clear that our financial position is secure and performance is strong with a good foundation for that to continue, especially with the new set of NPO funding.

The ongoing work of the 2022 touring programme alongside the development of new work for 2023 means audiences can continue to enjoy dynamic, exhilarating and diverse experiences in outdoor public spaces across the country and internationally.
